Never! Many musicians incorporate humor in their lyrics and/or their between song patter and, Leo Kottke is one of them. Having a laugh is nearly always good for you and shows are generally more enjoyable with some funny business thrown in. It can be deadpan or witty or subtle, self-deprecating or bitingly satirical, and sometimes all of the above, as is the case with Mr. Kottke, who even injects some into his guitar playing. At his performance for Lobero Live! on Sept. 17, he was a bit less laconic than usual, and the audience ate it up, not to mention his dazzling six- and twelve-string pyrotechnics.
