Mark Dendy & DANCEworks Santa Barbara - Friday Club
Mark Dendy Projects in a month-long DANCEworks residency at the Lobero Theatre begins. Meet Mark and his 4 dancers who invite you to Friday Club, a special members-only chance to see them create the new commissioned work choreographed by Obie-winner Mark Dendy, and really get to know them with a wine & cheese reception.
You've GOT to see this show!!!
I had a really intense experience watching part of a run through of Mark's "Dystopian Distractions!" as it begins to jell into an important new work. Going from Collette Krogol's hilarious/scary Ducky Doo Doo sendup of patriotic boosterism to the abdsurdist "Dancing with the Troops" to Matt Reeves's gut-wrenching solo depicting the horror of combat set to Hendrix's "Start Spangled Banner," and a disquisition on Picasso's "Guernica," it was an emotional ride like none other I've seen. And That's just from part of the first act! If you want a theatrical experience you won't soon forget, get your tickets NOW!
