The Lobero Theatre’s American Roots Music series brings some pretty fine performers to Santa Barbara and the kickoff show for their fall season was a perfect example of why this series is so, so good. LA based The Dales Band got things started with their beautiful 3-part harmonies, well-crafted songwriting and country-folk vibe, with songs about loss and enduring love. Marc Broussard’s gritty-yet-smooth blue-eyed soul vocals backed by a tight and bluesy swamp-funk band made for some mighty fine listening and even some seat-bound dancing. Coming this weekend – “I’m With Her” – Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan, three grammy-winners with solo careers, join their prodigious talents and angelic voices to make something new and inspiring, music that will move you and make you feel really good inside. That’s what this series is all about, and you get to experience it in one of the best venues there is!
