Ensemble Theatre Company is bringing “Porgy and Bess” to the New Vic Theatre this February with a re-vamped jazz adaptation of the classic George & Ira Gershwin operetta featuring a live on-stage jazz ensemble. Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Suzan-Lori Parks created this adaptation for the Broadway stage and Grammy-nominated Kevin Toney re-orchestrated the score. If the singing going on during the publicity photo shoot is any indication, this promises to be a stellar production–the cast features some exceptionally talented artists.
