Community Arts Music Association of Santa Barbara is celebrating its 100th Anniversary Season, and apropos of its name, presented a free concert for our community on December 11th. The LA Chamber Orchestra which has made numerous CAMA appearances was joined by virtuoso mandolinist Avi Avital for an all-Vivaldi program. The first half of the show showcased four LACO violinists playing two lovely Concerti for 2 Violins. Mr. Avital occupied the conductor and soloist chair for a rousing reading of Vivaldi’s best known work, “The Four Seasons,” which he pointed out nearly everyone has heard in one way or another. He began by relating his own history with this iconic music which began at a very young age when he wore out his parent’s vinyl recording of it. The evening was a delightful “thank you” gift for the support of the Santa Barbara community in making possible a 100 year legacy of presenting the finest classical music and musicians in the world.
