Week three of Doug Varone and Dancer’s residency at the Lobero Theatre creating what will be the World Premiere of their new work “Somewhere” set to Leonard Bernstein’s orchestral score for the movie “West Side Story” and things are moving along at a rapid pace. The transition they were working on in the last video has gone through a major change as Doug refines and replaces, fine tuning this set of dances inspired by the alternately propulsive and rhapsodic musical numbers penned by Mr. Bernstein nearly 62 years ago. A new-to-me trio was also getting the full treatment, adding poignancy and grace to this wonderful new work as Dancework’s, the Final Year gets closer to the ultimate two performances on September 6th and 7th at the Lobero Theatre.
