Homies doing good

Father Gregory Boyle waxed eloquent and funny to a packed house at UCSB’s Campbell Hall last Tuesday. Partly a history of the very successful Homeboy Industries, partly cultural education and all peppered with moving and hilarious anecdotes, Father G’s talk was thoroughly entertaining. He and the Dolores Mission Church have made a huge difference, succeeding big time in improving the lives of gang members through jobs and education to break the cycle of incarceration and recidivism. Homeboy Industries runs a Bakery, a Café , a Diner, a Catering service, a Silkscreening & Embroidering service, and much more. They even provide tattoo removal and access to legal services. It’s all about developing personal relationships to bring people together to do good.
