The Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho came together at the Granada Theatre for a sold-out CAMA show of Brahms, Chopin and Weinberg. Music Director and conductor Jacek Kapszyk got things off to a fine start with Brahms’s Tragic Overture in D minor, and the turbulence and torment of the piece were palpably rendered by this fine orchestra. An natural and excellent choice to perform Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor was 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition winner Cho, who’s dazzling yet sensitive playing had the audience leaping to their feet for a long ovation. Polish and Korean made a great combination!
