Los Angeles based Ozomatli’s Grammy-winning melange of genres filled the Lobero Theatre and had the audience on their feet dancing, screaming and having a ball. They have likened their music to a drive thru L.A. with your windows down and listening to all the different kinds of music coming from the other cars on the road. They’ve taken their polyglot blend of Latino rock, funk, reggae, rap and jazz around the globe, even to China and Burma, in a celebration of the mix of cultures in their hometown. The Lobero concert, in support of their latest release “Nonstop: Mexico to Jamaica” mixing traditional Mexican songs with reggae and run through their high-speed blender, was a loud (a little too for these tinnitus-y ears), raucous dance party, and everyone had a whole bunch of fun.
