Anticipation was in high gear Friday evening as the audience took their seats for DANCEWORKS Santa Barbara’s 10th Anniversary Celebration, and those lucky enough to be in attendance were not disappointed. In fact, they were ecstatic by the time it drew to a close some 130 minutes later. Doug Elkin Choreograhy, Etc’s premiere of “Kintsugi” was a rousing success and the second half , made up of solo works by all seven of the other alumni choreographers, plus a bonus by Summerdance alum Doug Varone, was a tour de force of personal artistry showcasing the diversity of works that DANCEWORKS has sponsored in the last 10 years. Saturday night was, impossibly, even better. Hats off to Dianne Vapnek, Lobero Theatre and all the artists who made this show such a treat!
