Numerous things spring to mind when thinking about the title of “High Fidelity,” the rock musical based on the Nick Hornby novel, presented by Out of the Box Theatre Company. Fidelity to principles, as in the superiority of vinyl or small independent record stores which care more about music (at least the music the owner likes) than making money. How about fidelity in relationships or friendships? Check. It’s a fast-paced romp thru the breakup of one couple and the forming of new ones while poking fun at purist prejudice, hippy-dippy mystics, and, getting advice from the “Boss”, forming a band, and the eventual reconciliation of the central couple. Proving that taste or principles can change and love will out if only you admit your mistakes and grow up. Helps to sing songs too.
