DANCEworks Santa Barbara begins its 9th iteration Monday Aug. 7 on the stage of the Lobero Theatre, and appropriate to the change to this steamy month, the new work this year’s artist-in-residence choreographer Kate Weare will be creating in collaboration with artistic director Esteban Moreno of Union Tanguera (FRANCE) promises to be hot! The dancers of Kate Weare Company and Union Tanguera come together for “a unique cross-pollination of disciplines, cultures and values.” The new piece, “Sin Salida/In Love I Broke Beyond,” will reveal the “formal strengths and fascinating differences between Argentine tango and contemporary dance partnering…” and feature live music performed by Argentine composer Gustavo Beytelmann.
