BOXTALES Theatre Company runs a youth summer camp each year for aspiring thespians aged 8 – 13 during a “three-week journey in the BOXTALES method…” Now that is saying something, because their approach is multi-dimensional, encompassing acting, storytelling, Acro-Yoga, mime, music and collaboration, all mixed with a lot of imaginative fun at the beautiful Marjorie Luke Theatre. Camp culminates with an original stage production, this year based on the Greek myth of Cupid and Psyche, which means they got a good dose of knowledge about classical Greek mythology too, with a few cool twists like Cupid “flying” around on a miniature Segway. The success of the program is evident in the quality of the acting and physical skills, and the look of joy on their faces at the end of the show.
