Better Than Pizza

The John Pizzarelli Trio has played the Lobero several times and they always puts on a great show, an evening filled with John’s stunning guitar wizardry on his signature 7 string ax, superb piano and bass accompaniment, humorous backstories and some of the best tunes from the Great American Songbook. From the time Mr. P first picked up a guitar he’s been a huge fan of the Nat King Cole Trio, and the March 5th show was filled with the best from Mr. Cole’s oeuvre, all in honor of the centennial of that giant of jazz’s birth. Some added percussion in the form of thunder claps added to the fun, along with an on and off again PA, which was remedied quickly by the great Lobero crew with a portable unit, as luckily the rest of the electricals in the house were not affected by Santa Barbara’s biggest lightning storms in memory. Pizzarelli good naturedly switched between 2 mics and along with pianist Konrad Paszkudzki and bassist Mike Karn, put on a heck of a show.
