Three top musicians get together to have some fun and make some great music, melding their disparate tastes and talents to make something unique. The American Crossroads Trio’s January 15th appearance at the Lobero was a loose and charmingly shaggy affair, peppered with a lot of humor, a couple of false starts and numerous flashes of brilliance. How can you miss when blues acoustic master David Bromberg, multi instrumentalist and sideman extraordinaire Larry Campbell, and Latino rock legend David Hidalgo sit down and let fly with fretboard wizardry and some great songs from their own repertoires and classics of the country, rock and blues songbooks? A pretty fine evening of the various strains of Americana, down and funky style.
