ANGRY AND ANXIOUS IN THE STRUGGLE BETWEEN RAGE AND LOVE: AMERICAN IDIOT

Disaffection, drugs, sex, love and war all boil over in the stage adaptation of Green Day’s 2004 punk rock opera, “American Idiot.” Three 20 something buddies trying to escape the ennui of working class suburbia follow 3 different and difficult paths, finally reaching a bittersweet acceptance of their lives. Samantha Eve’s Out of the Box Theatre Company continued their mission of bringing contemporary and challenging musicals to Center Stage Theater with a highly talented cast of singers and dancers, a tight live band, video projections by Timothy Reese and colorfully stimulating lighting by Ted Dolas. Directed by musical theater specialist Joanna Syiek, this was another ambitious outing for the company, which gets better with each production, rising to new heights of fast-paced, swirling theatrical entertainment with a twist of danger and music to get your blood pumping. Don’t miss their next one!
