A Bunch of Roots

Country, rock’n roll, bluegrass and more! Albert Lee, legendary guitarist with the likes of Emmylou Harris, Eric Clapton, the Everly Brothers, has been awarded a Grammy for Best Country Instrumental Performance, and has been named Guitar Player magazine’s “Best Country Guitarist” five consecutive times. He also performs his own tunes as a frontman as he did for Sings Like Hell’s August show at the Lobero Theatre. He’s a master of many styles and he blended them all together in his countryfied and rockin’ set last Saturday. Openers the Bryan Titus Trio gave a scintillating performance of Bryan’s quirky and rootsy songs propelled by bandmates Dustin Janson (cajon and vocals) and Jeff Kranzler (upright bass) and Titus’s own infectious energy. His gritty but smooth-as-bourbon voice is a perfect vehicle for his updated “barn dance” music that is steeped in Appalachia and fed by the deep roots of Americana.
