Doug Elkins has eclectic interests and tastes, and in line with his approach to the idea of Kintsugi, he’s putting together a bunch of different fragments, or broken pieces, to make something better. This Tuesday past he and dancers Cori Marquis, Lex Dones, Eric Parra and Elias Rosas worked on perfecting a segment set to Brazilian Samba music, a sensual and fun pas de quatre. It’s pretty obvious that these artists love what they are doing, and, that the results are really fresco tropical! Don’t miss the premiere of this exciting new dance work September 7 & 8 at the Lobero Theatre, along with appearances by choreographers and dancers from all nine of the previous DANCEWORKS residencies. Tickets: lobero.com or phone the Lobero Theatre box office at 805•963•0761.
