Threading

Doug Elkins has deep roots in hip-hop and break dance and he uses that (along with many other influences) in his contemporary dance choreography. Case in point: threading. Arms, legs, hands and other body parts twisting around and through each other between and among dancers, or solo. It makes for interesting shapes and lyrical movement, especially combined with lifts and other dance techniques. Here are some photos of Donnell Oakley and Carolyn Cryer working on a pas de deux for “Kintsugi” which will premiere Sept. 7 & 8 at the Lobero Theatre. Tickets: lobero.org or 805•963•3706
