‘Tis the season for Jane Austen any time, and “Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley” is a perfectly delightful holiday confection to warm your heart and tickle your funny bone. Written by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon as a sequel to Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice,” it is a witty and affecting tribute to all the things we’ve come to expect from encounters with Ms. Austen’s world of the trials and tribulations of love and family in early 19th century England. Quickly paced, filled with subtly biting humor, the thrills and perils of courtship, asserting free will and finding happiness, it’s a very satisfying evening’s entertainment that leaves you feeling better about humanity, something we could use right now. Ensemble Theatre’s production sparkles with a stellar cast directed by Andrew Barnicle. Now thru Dec. 17 at the New Vic Theatre.
