Opera Santa Barbara’s opening production of the 2017-18 season is Jules Massanet’s “Manon,” their premiere of this beautiful and in the end tragic grand opera. Don’t miss Sarah Coburn’s sublime and powerful soprano in the title role and tenor Harold Meers (last seen in Santa Barbara in OSB’s “Carmen”) being again torn one way and another by a ravishing and passionate lover, only to lose her in the end. This is a lavish production with wonderful direction by Kristine McIntyre, a big cast, exquisite Louis XV era costumes, great sets, lush music and lovely singing. A great kick-off to OSB’s 24th season!
