The Muaka were massive predatory "cats" that were aggressive even without Makuta's influence. But to say it is the longest running original theme is a little misleading. Active participation by way of submissions of any kind to this Contest is not open to residents of Iran, North Korea, Myanmar/Burma, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Syria, Russia or any other country which is subjected to sanctions and where prohibited or restricted by law, for as long as such sanctions remain in place. Unoriginal themes in my book are Star Wars, LOTR/Hobbit, and Superheros. Kids wanted a story behind those blocks, and to go with that story they wanted neat pieces that they could use to create their own play fantasies. ^While it may be based on things in real life it's still a theme and Lego designed it themselves. I guess it is a backstory now, but it's like jumping into a TV show in series 9 - you've got a lot of catching up to do!Saying that, I read as far as the Rahi, just before the water dwelling guys and I couldn't go on! The first three themes were Town, Space, and Castle and so they should be considered "original themes". The Tohunga-sized sets for 2002 were the Bohrok Va - small scouts and messengers of the Swarm.
