There is nothing like comic relief in times of trouble, and Jeffrey Hatcher’s adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s “The Government Inspector” provides it aplenty in Westmont College’s production, deftly directed by resident professor Mitchell Thomas and performed with delightful energy by a crew of talented student actors. Corruption running rampant, mistaken identities, lust, greed and avarice mixed with witty repartee, some slapstick, a little music and scads of hilarity make for a perfect antidote to these dark days of government misdeeds and climate driven natural disasters. Do yourself a favor and head for Westmont’s Porter Theatre to catch the last performance of this gem, tonight (10/26)! Tickets HERE.
