UCSB Arts & Lectures – Danish String Quartet outreach 2/29/16 Santa Barbara Junior High
String Quartet that is. Band & orchestra students at Santa Barbara Junior High were treated to a visit from the Danish String Quartet who played a couple of really, really beautiful arrangements of Danish folk songs, and then got to ask questions, the most burning of which was “How much did your instruments cost?” Not surprising when they found out the age of them–from 400 to 600 years old. The guys are “lent” the instruments from foundations. This is true for many musicians, after all, how many would be able to afford a $5 mil violin? Invaluable outreach provided by UCSB Arts & Lectures.
