The 4th movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, the “Ode to Joy,” calls for a big collaboration. The Santa Barbara Symphony and Maestro Nir Kabaretti joined forces with members of the choruses from the Santa Barbara Choral Society, the Quire of Voices, UCSB and San Marcos High School, along with noted soloists Jeanine De Bique – Soprano, Nina Yoshida Nelson – Mezzo, Benjamin Brecher – Tenor and DeAndre Simmons – Bass. The sheer volume and beauty of 128 voices and orchestra in full song did exquisite justice to this beloved and sublime musical wonder, enveloping the audience completely.
