Shooting with “studio” lighting (often on location–with or without a background) is just as challenging and rewarding as during a live performance. For publicity I need to create a compelling image that will give someone a good idea of what the show is about and make them want to see it.
It is a more intmate and personal experience for the subjects and for me. It is also more collaborative, working with actors, dancers, singers, directors, and costume and make-up artists. It’s a great opportunity to get creative, requiring me to use my lighting techniques and skills to go beyond just capturing a moment.
