Guitarist David Zisman and cohorts played for a private birthday party on the rooftop of the Canary Hotel in downtown Santa B Sunday night, and it reminded me of playing parties in a couple of the bands I was in back in the day. These guys and the audience were having just as much fun as we did, and hats off to them for striking out in a new band at their age.
The bands I was in got shut down by the cops at a couple of parties for being too loud, and the drummer got so enthusiastic once he fell of his stool, but that didn’t stop us from partying hard while we played! Especially memorable was a gig at the then infamous Banner House in Summerland when a whole phalanx of police showed up. At least they waited a while before busting up the fun.
