I know, we didn’t get much rain (any?) in April, but aural flowers bloomed on stage May 13 at Hahn Hall in the form of Samuel Barber’s String Quartet in B minor, Op. 11, Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence, Op. 70, and Elgar’s Quintet in A minor for Piano & Strings, Op. 84. The lineup for the Tchaikovsky of 2 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos made for a richer and deeper sound, and is something I don’t recall seeing before. Pretty sweet! The concert also marked the welcome return to the stage in Santa Barbara for Warren Jones, after a fairly long absence.
