Finally onstage at the Granada Theatre and less than a week before the curtain goes up on Buoso’s opera. Oops, I mean Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi.” Everyone was so distraught about the death of Brooks Firestone’s brilliantly played Buoso Donati, that tears flowed like rain. Until they found and read his will. Then the real fun began.
Zita (Alissa Anderson) and Simone (Scott Levin) shed crocodile tears over the corpse of Buoso Donati (Brooks Firestone)
Rinuccio (Jason Slayden) finds the will
He left everything to what??!!!??!!
You can’t kill him again!
What to do? Gianni Schicchi to the rescue – the nose knows. We just replace the corpse with me.
Stefano de Peppo (Gianni Schicchi) has a nose for this kind of thing
They’re not sold on the idea
Stage Director Fenlon Lamb wants to make sure the dead guy isn’t hurt any more
Brooks gets the old heave-ho
Maybe Fenlon is a little skeptical of the plan too…
Great fun was had by all in a rollicking rehearsal.
