UCSB Arts & Lectures treated Santa Barbara to a 3 day residency by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. This exciting event included a masterclass in collaboration with Santa Barbara Dance Arts, and 2 full and distinct shows at the Arlington Theater, plus a special performance for 2,000 school children. All in all a dance-lover’s dream come true. Dance students of many ages filled the large studio at Santa Barbara Dance arts for a really sensuous immersion into some of the trademark methods and moves of the Alvin Ailey style. The Arlington performances included classics from the Ailey repertoire and thrilling newer works, and the interactive schools performance had them wiggling in their seats and screaming for more.
