Each year the UCSB Department of Music, in collaboration with CAMA Santa Barbara, presents a concert showcasing the musical variety, breadth and depth of their student and faculty artists’ abilities and talent. This year’s offering took place at the Marjorie Luke Theater to bring this free event to the community in a centrally located and beautifully restored venue at Santa Barbara Junior High School. A fast-paced and invigorating program featuring a percussion ensemble, a piano quartet, a clarinet quintet, a big cello ensemble, solo piano, an original work for plucked piano, an original Suite for Flute Beatbox, two lovely songs for soprano, violin & piano, a big flute ensemble, a string quartet and to close the show ,a nine piece jazz ensemble. Composers ranged from Mozart to Piazzolla and beyond, with 75 minutes of enjoyable proof that the UCSB Music Department is doing great things.
