Each Summer Boxtales Theatre Company conducts a professional theater training Summer Camp for youth in Santa Barbara. It’s a 3-week journey into the “Boxtales method,” a wonderful blend of acting and storytelling culminating in an original stage production. Using minimal props with participants being the scenery, it’s always fun to see what the talented group of young thespians will come up with. This year it was an imaginative re-telling of Pinocchio, complete with a donkey powered wagon and a giant shark swallowing the little string-free puppet. The remarkably talented and limber Kaeva Vorbeck played a most engaging and energetic Pinocchio.
