Kenny Barron is one of the greatest pianists of the American Jazz scene. He has made hundreds of recordings and performed countless times, but not at the Lobero Theatre. Until April 18th that is, when he and his superbly talented trio held the audience in rapt sway. Barron’s elegant, melody laden razor sharp playing was more than augmented by the Kiyoshi Kitagawa’s propulsive bass and Johnathan Blake’s rhythmically complex and high-energy drumming. An evening of pure jazz heaven!
